Most Holy Body and Blood
of Christ

One of the privileges of a Priest is to change bread and wine into God’s Body and Blood. This power was given to the Church on Holy Thursday, at the Last Supper. (Another privilege is to forgive sins.)

This changing of the bread and wine into God’s Body and Blood is called Transubstantiation; because the very substance of bread and wine is changed truly into the substance of the Body and Blood of Christ.

To better comprehend this, please see the link below about a Eucharistic Miracle in Argentina, in 1996: https://catholicpilgrim.org/2013/11/27/pope-francis-a-eucharistic-miracle-in-argentina/ . See also Saint John: Chapter 6.

In the Old Testament, a Sacrifice was only completed when the party consumed the sacrificial meal. In order to enter into a Covenant, one must take part in a Sacrifice. See Genesis: Chapter 15:17-18. The reason Jesus offers Himself as a Sacrifice is in Atonement for the Sin of Adam.

When one receives Communion at Mass, one takes part in the Sacrificial Offering. In order to enter into God’s Sacrifice, one is called to be pure of heart; this is why one is called to be in a State of Grace (i.e. no Mortal Sin on one’s Soul) hence the need for Confession.

At Mass the Priest acts in the very Person of Christ, not as a representative or substitute. Hence the Priest is offering the Sacrifice of Christ (in an unbloody manner). Therefore the Cleric is called a Priest, because a Priest is one who offers a Sacrifice.

Parish Council Meeting, 14 June, Results:

  1. The Parish Council thought it was important to have a Grief Ministry established. Three people have volunteered to start a committee, which we hope to have in place in the Autumn.
  2. The Parish Council enquired about a video screen for the Church, to display the words to hymns.
  3. For our Dinner Speaker Programme, Catherine Ecker, of Barrie, will speak on Thursday, 26 Oct.
  4. Coffee will be served after Mass on 02 July, 6 August and 17 September.
  5. The next Parish Council Meeting is on Wednesday, 13 September.
  6. To enhance our understanding of our Faith and Teachings, it was suggested that beginning in the Autumn, the Homily will consist of five minutes of proclaiming the Gospel, and five minutes explaining different Teachings of the Church.
  7. During Lent, we will have Church Studies on Wednesdays following the 12:30 PM Mass.
  8. Commencing in the Autumn, the Parish Council would like to have the Children’s Liturgy at the 10 AM Sunday Mass for the whole calendar year (not just the school year).
